Yea!! We can finally discuss in more detail the accessible trail that will be built in Pine Hill Park.

One of the requirements from the state was we were not allowed to mention the LWCF grant by name or put much information out.

The trail will be 4600 feet long, 5 feet wide with a crushed 3/8ths minus surface so wheelchairs will be able to roll along. The trail starts a long the west side of the Giorgetti Athletic Building then ducks into the woods over the current board walk which will have bumpers installed. Take a hard right by Elephant Rock on Lower Giorgetti. We follow the contours a long to eliminate any steep grades. The existing bridge on Lower Giorgetti will be widen. Two boardwalks will be installed to avoid the wetlands. The trail will come out of the woods and loop along East Creek behind the baseball field returning to the upper parking lot.

This is a project that started in September of 2023 with a concept design plan and wetland testing.

We would like to thank Carris Reels Charitable giving to help us fund the wetland permitting process which was extensive to meet the state requirements.

Now the fun begins with putting a request for proposal out for bids. The over all cost of this trail will almost half million dollars with 50% coming from the LWCF grant and the match coming from private donations and the Mary Giorgetti endowment fund.

The trail will look very similar to the Pratt Refuge trail in Duxbury.
